Tiger Huddle Photo (2)The opportunity to lead is something you earn. At first, you’re taking small steps towards making a change, and then later on having big events and fundraisers for your school.

Being a leader is all about your attitude and giving your all at everything you do. For example; you could be in a group with a bunch of people just like you, and have another group of people (who don’t want to be there) in charge. Ultimately what you’ll find is that when the people in charge are ready to throw in the towel but you’re still working to find a solution, people will follow you! The one who doesn’t give up because things got tough is who others will follow. Leadership has nothing to do with somebody placing you in a position. You can make yourself a leader in any situation.

Taking charge and doing what’s right is a sign of character. That’s what real leaders are made of. And when others notice that you’re doing these things and always striving to hit a new goal, you’ll get to experience new opportunities.

One of the best things I’ve done was apply to be an Ambassador at the Summit. I had already become a leader in my community and wanted to take it to the next level. A couple of years ago I went to the Fuel Up to Play 60 website and applied. When I listed out the things I’ve done in my community and told my passion for helping others, I was accepted as a National Ambassador! In the summer of 2012, I had the opportunity to go to Washington, D.C. and be a part of the Student Ambassador Summit! I had such a great time there and learned so much! I got a chance to meet NFL quarterback Matt Cassel, who (just like I had done in my community), is a leader!

The Student Ambassador Summit was such an amazing experience. It really opened up my mind and made me think in different ways. When I left I was so inspired that I got right to it! I had four Fuel Up to Play 60 Pep Rallys in different schools that year, and last April got an email saying I was invited to the next Summit in Charlotte, NC at Panther Stadium! I would be returning to help in the planning and leading of the Summit! I was so excited. It was once again, an amazing experience.

Fast forward to now, I sit on the Fuel Up to Play 60 Youth Council! It all started because I wanted to make a change. Through being a leader doing Fuel Up to Play 60 events and my own personal endeavors, I’ve been recognized by my city’s mayor, the governor of my home state of Georgia, Nathan Deal, and by President Barack Obama! Being a leader is not only an amazing way to help others, but in the end, all your hard work certainly pays off!

Eating is fun! There’s all sorts of different ways to create new and exciting meals for you and your friends and family! Just make sure that what you put in your body is good “fuel” to keep your body going for the rest of the day so you can play 60!

I just want to say that fuel up to play 60 is a great site. I was invited to the student ambassador summit and my family is planning on going and I think it will be a great experience for me representing the state of michigan and my town and school. I am really exited about it and I think it will be a real blast. I am now going to try encouraging more people in my community to stay active and healthy.

You guys say you want to be a leader, it’s not that hard. I’m Alaina, MO State Ambassador and its really simple to become an ambassador, local or state. I joined our committee made last year and that for one is really important. Our program advisor suggested ideas, but we lead the committee. We made play and stuff like that happen. It makes you feel really good when people have fun with the plays but you yourself also have to promote the Fuel Up to Play 60 lifestyle. It’s really easy and fun too!
