At my school in Wisconsin, my Fuel Up to Play 60 team has created half days dedicated only to Fuel Up to Play 60 activities. These days are beneficial not only to our Fuel Up to Play 60 team and program, but are highly beneficial to the students at our school. The whole school is involved in these activities and we all have a blast every time these days come around!
We have all of our FUTP 60 members run specific stations, from bottle flipping to tackling football dummies. Running stations really teaches our team about leadership and we find that the students are also more comfortable participating if their classmates are running the stations.
During these days we have a very wide range of activities, with students rotating to each station. During our last FUTP 60 day, we were lucky enough to have pretty nice weather so we had some stations outside.
Having over 1,000 students and teachers involved in this event, our team needs to do a lot of planning. Some things our student team plan are finding stations that students will like, deciding where to locate stations, and making sure we have a clear rotation schedule. But, when our whole team works together, we make sure these days are ones to remember.
These days truly improve our Fuel Up to Play 60 program and I recommend you talk to your Program Advisors about starting days like this. I know this could be challenging, but hey, this is Fuel Up to Play 60! Sometimes you gotta take a risk and challenge yourself to make your school and community a better place.
