This summer I was fortunate enough to attend the Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador Summit in Minneapolis as a State Ambassador. This was an experience that I will never forget. While at the Summit, I met a lot of new people and learned some valuable things about myself. I am proud to say that many of the people that I met are people that I can now call my friends. Although the Summit was only a few days long, the bonds that are formed with the other students are strong and lasting.
While at the Summit, I was able to recognize my strength and weaknesses as a leader. The Summit allowed me to build on my strengths and helped me to work on my weak areas and break out of my “shell”. Prior to the Summit I was a bit insecure when it came to making decisions and being a leader. However, now I am able to step up and speak out. I used to get so nervous about speaking in front of others and doing presentations, but now I can do it with ease.
Since my return from the Summit I have been brainstorming and thinking of ways to get more students in my school to join the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. I am entering a new school this year as a high school freshman, so the task is a bit intimidating, but I know that I can do it. This is the first year that the high school has had a FUTP 60 program, so I know that getting others to join is going to take some work, but I also know that if they just give it a try they will love the program just as much as I do. I am currently working with one of my Program Advisors to come up with a plan for our Kickoff event and I think that is going to be a great success.
I truly love being a part of FUTP 60 and I cannot wait until the next Summit!
