New Hampshire Spirit Week and Pep Rally

At the end of November, some students and I hosted a school wide spirit week and pep rally kickoff. Each day of the week had a different theme based on physical activity or healthy eating.

Monday was NFL/ Fuel Up to Play 60 Day: Students and teachers wore their favorite NFL jersey or Fuel Up to Play 60 shirt.

Tuesday was Smoothie Day: People dressed in colors of their favorite smoothie and our cafeteria gave out smoothie samples.

Wednesday was Favorite Sport Day: People dressed as a player of their favorite sport and we did a school-wide warm up over the announcements.

Thursday was our last themed day and it was Dairy Day: This was a lot of fun. People dressed up in their favorite dairy product or animal.

On Friday, we had our kick off pep rally. Former Patriots player Jermaine Wiggins came to our school and talked about the importance of taking care of your mental and physical health today and for the future. We also let all students in our school know what Fuel Up to Play 60 is, how they can join and the many benefits the program offers. We ended the pep rally with a mini game that was the freshman and sophomores versus the juniors and seniors (freshmen and sophomores won!) Jermaine was our very enthusiastic announcer/cheerer. The game involved throwing footballs into a barrel, and whichever team had the most footballs in their barrel at the end of three minutes won. Both teams received prizes and a picture with Jermaine. Our teams for the pep rally mini game also involved students from our Best Buddies Program. These are kids who have special needs and abilities.

The whole school was involved in the spirit week and we got some new members to our Fuel Up to Play 60 team. This was by far my most favorite event I have ever done at my school and I can’t wait to see what else I can accomplish with the help of my team members.

Thanks!
