In my town, an actual FLAG Football league is unheard of. Lots of adults in Wareham, along with many kids who have not had P.E. yet in my school, have no idea what FLAG Football is. I played FLAG Football for 1 year and tackle football for 5 years. I loved FLAG Football even more than tackle football, and I am sure if more kids experienced FLAG Football more kids would want to do FLAG Football.
I talked to my parents first, and then my Program Advisor. We took the initiative to get support through FUTP 60 and NFL FLAG. We got flags, footballs, and money to get more equipment such as cones. People are learning how to play, and learning it is fun! We are even using the flags in different games, like tag games, where you pull the flag to get them out. Our whole school is very excited and happy that they are staying fit and healthy, while playing a new, fun game.
With their help we are starting our new NFL FLAG Football league, with game and instruction teams, for anyone to play. I am so excited and I am sure others in my town, hundreds of kids wanting to join and overall… have a super fun team!
