Recently, I was on a call with FUTP 60 Student Ambassadors from around the country to talk with Superintendents from different districts. The purpose of this group is to talk with the Superintendents and my fellow Ambassadors to help create presentations and pitches that can change the hearts and minds of district leaders to bring about healthy changes led by students in schools.

One of our first fun homework assignments (can you believe I just said that?!?) was to go to our FUTP 60 Dashboard and complete the Mini-Lesson called the Learning Connection. I learned a lot! You should check it out too!

Since I noticed that some of my classmates do seem tired in the morning, I decided to do some research on why breakfast is so important. Did you know that students that have breakfast have better attention and memory, but only 38% of all teens eat breakfast? I plan to present to my peers about the importance of breakfast. I plan to challenge my class to eat a healthy breakfast every day for a whole week! I have made a spreadsheet to record the breakfast-eating achievements of my fellow classmates on a large chart that can be seen by everyone in our school! We will keep that sign up to remind others and I will ask my peers to create a new challenge for the next week.

It’s almost the end of the school year. We can do this! Can you? Eat breakfast. Eat a wide variety of foods at breakfast including grains, fruits, veggies (yes, veggies), and low fat dairy!
