What if you could win up to $4,000 to create and lead your own healthy eating or physical activity program in your school? New Hampshire Ambassador Lily A. did just that, with the help of the GENYOUth AdVenture Capital grant program. Through a series of cooking classes called “What’s Cooking in Titan’s Kitchen?” at Milford Middle School, she is teaching her classmates all sorts of ways to make healthy eating easy and fun! Fuel Up to Play 60 asked Lily about her AdVenture Capital experience, her favorite ways to eat healthy and get active, and what she’s most excited for in the new school year. For your chance to win a GENYOUth AdVenture Capital grant, click here and share your idea before October 22!

Q&A with Lily A.:

  • Why did you choose to do a healthy cooking class for AdVenture Capital? Where did you get the idea?

“I started cooking when I was a little girl and my mom taught me how to be a chef. It was something I really caught on to. When i got the application I thought, ‘What can I do that I love, that will be fun?’ So I decided to do these classes.”

  • How did it feel to be one of the winners of Adventure Capital? What was your favorite part about winning?

“It’s really fun! Now, when I Google my name, I see all this Fuel Up to Play 60 stuff. It’s an amazing feeling to be like ‘I accomplished this.’ I have pride in myself.”

  • What’s your favorite healthy dish to make with milk/dairy products?

“Homemade enchiladas with cheese on top. We add black beans, butternut squash and chilies to make it spicy.”

  • When did you become interested in healthy cooking?

“My mom and my dad are both vegetarian. They’ve always been interested in healthy cooking, too. My mom usually would only teach me how to cook healthy, but sometimes she’d teach me to bake cupcakes.”

  • Heading into a new school year with Fuel Up to Play 60, what are you most excited for?

“The new website! I’m also excited to get more kids involved this year, and we’re going to do more Plays.”

  • Why did you sign up to be an Ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60?

“I like that it’s student-run. We have our own voice- we have a say in what goes on. We get to be leaders.”

  • What is your favorite way to get 60 minutes of play?

“Dance. I’m taking three or four dance classes this fall- I do contemporary, tap, jazz and hip-hop.”

  • What is your favorite NFL team?

“The Patriots!”

Cool I liked how to make the program fueluptoplay60 so that kids can be healthy. I think that it also cool because it teachers or parents want to lose weight the can track down all the food that they eat. Great jog teachers. I am Jennifer, I am in fifth grade
