Saira I Photo 1I have often thought of where I would be if I had not joined the Fuel Up to Play 60 family. It’s taken me places I’ve never been before, and opened doors for me that I would never have known even existed. A plethora of invitations to events, conference calls, and webinars began to knock on my door.

One of these invitations was to the Worldwide Day of Play for Nickelodeon! I was asked to join them for a fantastic day of exercise and activity in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Told to bring my enthusiasm and energy (those two always happen to tag along to any of the Fuel Up to Play 60 events), I was New York City bound. I went with my fellow New Jersey State Ambassador Olivia G. and my father. We were up bright and early on the morning of September 21, laptops in hand and eager to start the day! Our task was to draw more awareness toward Fuel Up to Play 60 by walking the attendees through the sign-up process online and sharing our own personal experiences with this program, like attending the Summit and our real life “success stories”.

When we arrived it was a small hike to the park (not that we minded), but when we got over that hill and we looked out into the park my jaw dropped open. I saw hundreds of people milling around to different activity stations. Gigantic blown up bouncy houses, soccer fields, Zumba stations, rock climbing, healthy food stations, and live chefs were all available to everyone. After being warmly greeted by our local Dairy Council Representatives, we were shown to our stations where we would be enlightening attendees and signing them up for the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

Saira I Photo 3By communicating with both adults and children, I learned that dedication to a healthy lifestyle is universal. No barriers, whether it be race, status, or income can stop you from conveying this message and truly inspiring all those around you. I discovered that when sharing ideas, passion can shine through your words and the more you care, the more others care. Keeping that in mind, at the end of the day it all comes down to you.
