Hey everyone! We wanted to let you know about a fun way that we promote the Fuel Up to Play 60 program in our community during the holidays. Each December, our city in Iowa and the downtown businesses host a holiday event called “Christmas Greetings on Main”. This event draws hundreds of people to our downtown. It includes live Christmas windows, Santa Claus, horse drawn trolley rides, hot cocoa, and is a great night of family fun. There are many groups and organizations that help put on live window displays, and our Fuel Up to Play 60 team is one of them! Last year, we wanted to come up with a fun way to promote eating healthy and being active and to encourage others to get involved with Fuel Up to Play 60! We dressed up as elves and we danced, sang, and worked out in the window as the families walked around the town. We also had our school chorus singing Christmas music. It was a great way to get a lot of students from our school involved. Many businesses hand out candy, but we had a better idea. A special guest, The Eat Smart Play Hard Panther came to help out. He was outside in front of the window, handing out cheese sticks to everyone who walked by. The little kids loved The Eat Smart Play Hard Panther and there were high fives all around! This was one way we can get involved in our community every year, and spread the word about Fuel Up to Play 60.
