Rachel Huddle PhotoAt the beginning of October, my Program Advisor and I had a meeting with the superintendent of our school district. My Program Advisor suggested bringing a poster I had made for the open house because it includes pictures of me at the 2014 Student Ambassador Summit in July. Then we talked about doing a survey on breakfast for all the 6th grade classes so we would know what people where eating in the morning and who wasn’t eating, plus information that was provided was from the Midwest Dairy Council. Some of the questions on the survey were:

Do you usually eat breakfast?

What do you usually eat for breakfast?

On days that you skip breakfast how do you feel at mid-morning?

Then my Program Advisor made a call to the district office to see if our superintendent was available.

I was a little nervous at first, but then it was like talking to a friend to get them excited about Fuel Up to Play 60. I am trying to get all of my school district to have a breakfast program. The superintendent listened to what we talked about and wants us to get more information on breakfast and how we will get the program started.

It was easy getting a meeting with the superintendent. All we did was get all of our resources together, then I got my Program Advisor to call the district office and schedule a meeting. I would recommend you if you wanted something for your whole district, ask your Program Advisor to schedule a meeting with your superintendent. Then explain why it would be a good thing for your district to have.
