Why should YOU apply to attend the 2016 Student Ambassador Summit? Well…because it’s inspirational, educational and, to put it simply….it’s a blast! Let me share some highlights from my Summit experience the last two years.

Leadership: I used to be scared to speak in front of people. The Summit, along with my passion for Fuel Up to Play 60, has greatly changed that. You learn so much about the program at the Summit and you get excited to take it all back and get it started at your school. We had incredible guest speakers like Troy Aikman, former quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys and Kelvin Beachum, a current offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Also Mrs. McCourty, who is the mother of Devin McCourty from the New England Patriots and Jason McCourty from the Tenessee Titans, spoke about raising her two incredibly talented sons (who were also both there). You get to meet representatives from Dairy Councils, Farm Bureaus and Milk Marketing Boards, etc. who strongly support you and the program and want to help you become even more of a leader.

Teamwork: Both years we got divided up into teams with youth from all over the United States and we had a cook-off. We had to come up with recipes using certain ingredients to make a grab and go snack, and a breakfast. One year we used a recipe that I had created with my grandma before arriving at the Summit. Although it didn’t win, it was a hit and we used the recipe several times at my school and community events the following year.

Travel: We get to stay at the coolest colleges and see the greatest sights. In 2014 we got to stay at the University of Arlington and spent a lot of time at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium! In 2015 we got to spend time at Northwestern University. We also took a CircEsteem workshop where we got to learn some circus tricks which was really fun.

Lasting friendships: I have met so many great people that I remain in contact with. We can always share ideas with each other and tell each other what we are doing in our school and what has been successful!

Last but not least……hanging out with NFL players! Not many kids can say that they did that in their lifetime! We even got to play FLAG Football with them!

Each year FUTP 60 chooses the Ambassadors and Program Advisors that truly are making healthy changes in their schools and they are lucky enough to attend. I am honored that I was chosen the last two years and can only hope that I am lucky enough to attend again in 2016! Make sure to get YOUR application in by March 4! I promise it will be an experience that you will never ever forget!
