My name is Sarah. I am a Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador from Meridian, Idaho. I first got involved with Fuel Up to Play 60 by being selected to be part of our student team at school. After becoming a member, I began to earn Points on FuelUpToPlay60.com by promoting Fuel Up to Play 60 at my school and tracking my healthy eating and physical activity. Once I earned 20,000 points, I became an Ambassador! In September, I won the monthly drawing for Ambassadors. I was really excited when my prize pack arrived. It included several footballs, pedometers, eye black and mustache stickers, and a day pack!
I wanted to share my prize pack to get others excited about Fuel Up to Play 60, so I did a presentation for my classmates. My presentation included how I became an Ambassador, how students can sign up at FuelUpToPlay60.com, how to track daily healthy eating and physical activity, and promotion of our school’s mileage club (weekly walking and running to earn tokens and prizes). I did a drawing for the classmates that had completed five miles in our walking club and gave them prizes from my prize pack. My class was very excited and several people said they were going to sign up tonight!
In addition to my presentation, I designed a bulletin board at our school to promote Fuel Up to Play 60. I used materials available from the Fuel Up to Play 60 website. My hope is that students will see the bulletin board and want to join too!
Fuel Up to Play 60 has been a very rewarding experience for me. It has helped me with my personal goals of eating healthy and staying active as well as my goal of encouraging more students at my school to participate. Winning the prize pack gave me a great kick start for meeting that goal!
