Celebrating Iowa Farmers

I live in the middle of the Heartland where corn and soybeans farms are plentiful. My extended family members are farmers and grow corn and have beef cattle and hogs.  Farmers work hard long days to produce food for us to eat.

Recently, my Fuel Up to Play 60 Team went on a Farm to School Field Trip.  We visited a local Apple Orchard, Organic Vegetable Farm, and a Dairy Farm.  Each of these farmers work hard to produce the best quality apples, veggies and dairy products possible.  We picked apples and learned how the farm fresh milk is made into yogurt.  My school purchases all of the yogurt for our students from Country View Dairy. Students loved seeing firsthand how the foods in our lunches are grown and eating fresh apples and yogurt for snacks during the Field trip. Thank you farmers for all that you do for me and everyone in the world.
