First Annual Farm Bowl

Our Middle School’s First Annual Farm Bowl was Farmtastic!  The excitement built as new faces entered our building as well as animals in the courtyard! The Ramsey family, who farms in our community, joined us as we shared farming information and fun activities in the gym. Mr. Mark Thomas, another dairy farmer, joined us with a calf and other farm animals.

Our Fuel Up to Play 60 Ambassadors competed with actual farmers as our team captains. Events included a hay bale toss, a farmers carry, a milk ring toss, bobbing and stacking apples, and milk the cow. Milking the cow was harder than we thought. We used calf bottles and had 30 seconds each to see how much we could “milk” out of the bottle! The hay bales were heavy, the farmers carry was even heavier, but we had a lot of fun!

Farmers do a lot of work and we are thankful for all they do! We are getting ready to host our second annual Farm Bowl this year and can’t wait to meet the new farmers and test out our new activities! We are going to get even more people involved from the crowd this year and more interaction with the animals! Fuel up, play 60, and thank a farmer!
