Fuel Up to Play 60 has inspired better nutrition and fitness in so many ways it is hard to put into words, the effect it has had on the students at my school. Over the past year I personally have seen students in my school commit to the program, and completely transform the perspective of their health. Students have joined sports, are making better choices at lunch, and they are showing more interest in making changes at the school. Students are speaking up about making changes to the lunch menu and asking for more after school opportunities for fitness.

The first Fuel Up To Play 60 activity our school participated in was the kickoff last year. For our school we decided to perform a flash mob in the parking lot. The entire school got involved and it was an amazing success. Not only did my fellow classmates love it, word spread around the community and this year we plan to get the entire district involved as well as any community members who would like to join.

This year we are planning many activities for our students including a monthly taste test in our lunchroom that will encourage students to try new healthier foods. For our fitness department, we plan to create a walking club where students can join and walk to different places while getting into better shape. We also hope to bring a biking team to our school and organize a school wide biking event.

Already this year one of our greatest achievements is having over half the students in my school Pledge to Fuel Up to Play 60. Also, all of our teachers have helped significantly in helping motivate me as well as my classmates in making better choices that affect our future as well as current health. Although our school is relatively new to the program, we have accomplished so much so far and my classmates and I are ready and excited to further participate.
