This year was my first year in Fuel Up to Play 60 at our school in Wisconsin. Our Jaguar Pack Attack team created FUTP 60 and nutrition posters, helped out at our school’s Family Wellness Night, made videos, and even won the national MVP Schools Contest! We couldn’t have done it without hard work and teamwork.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 program helps our school get active and stay healthy. I think it’s so cool that I get to be a leader with the Fuel Up to Play 60 team in my school and do so many things to make a difference in my school. We have done Plays such as the Junior Chef Smoothie Challenge, In Class Physical Activity Breaks, and veggie and dairy taste tests and nutrition classes with Wellspring Farm and our food service program.

Our Fuel Up to Play 60 team has entered many contests throughout this school year, including a national and statewide contest. In January we were so excited when we found out our school won the National MVP School video contest out of 292 videos! In our MVP School video, we needed to show our NFL pride as well as how we have used FUTP 60 to help our school get active and eat healthy. At our MVP School NFL Super Bowl 50 Party, our school got to meet two Green Bay Packers players, Jeff Janis and Jared Abbrederis! The best part, though, was getting to work together as a team and win this once and a lifetime chance for our school.

When the two Packer players, Jeff Janis and Jared Abbrederis came to our school, our FUTP 60 team got to greet them with a high five tunnel while cheering, “Go Pack Go!” Many kids in school made Green Bay Packer posters to greet the players! We even had a football goal post and Lambeau Leap set up as part of our decorations. Jeff and Jared talked to our school about ways to get active and stay healthy. It was really cool hearing it from athletes who are now famous throughout our state. I think it was good for our school and the Fuel Up to Play 60 team to hear these great things from two people who have worked hard to get where they are today. Jeff Janis did the “Worm” for his touchdown dance and both players worked out with our school to a FUTP 60 physical activity video our team had put together. It was a fun celebration, and something I will remember for the rest of my life.

I really recommend joining the Fuel Up to Play 60 team because it’s fun, and also teaches you so much about teamwork, eating healthy, and getting active.
