My little brother Mark has had a tree nut allergy since he was three, and that’s made a big change on how my family eats. Now we have to be much more aware of what we eat, where the food comes from, and what’s in the food. We have to check labels for ingredients that may contain tree nuts. We also have to make sure that the food isn’t made on a shared line that processes tree nuts.

My mom has also been looking at artificial colors and sugars. Anything with artificial colors, we don’t get. I owe my brother for that. He has been keeping our family healthy for years with his tree nut allergy.

I eat pasta primavera, fruit, vegetables, salad, and I drink a lot of chocolate milk. My mom, brother and I cook all the time, so we know what’s going into the food, and the utensils that are used to make the food.

I take Tae Kwon Do twice a week, and eating healthy foods has given me more energy during practices, and has made me feel better all day long. But if I were to eat junk food before one of my Tae Kwon Do practices, I know I won’t have as much energy and won’t feel as good during the practice.

My mom has also told me that if I eat healthy foods now, when I get older my body will function better and I’ll hopefully live longer.

Because of eating healthy foods, I’m feeling better, having much more energy, and I know I’ll feel good when I get older.

    I play football and anyone who plays football can tell you that conditioning is so huge. We condition 4 times s week for a two hours a night and then game time on Saturdays. All athletes know how important taking care of your body is and our bodies are like machines and we should only fuel it up with the best foods to have the best performance. We should all remember to be athletes every day.

    I remember speaking to Larry Fitzgerald with the Arizona Cardinals and I asked him how does he stay healthy and he compared his eating habits to fueling up a car. He said that we put high octane gas in our cars for maximum performance and that’s what he tries to remember with his body that he fuels up with high quality foods to give off high performance on the field and off. I try to drink milk and water everyday. I definitely feel a lot better at school and more focused at golf.

    I made a Fuel Up To Play booth at my school during the fair weekend! It was a big hit and now more people know about Fuel Up To Play 60. I just love how kids these days are getting active and being healthy, it really makes me feel good. I think that our community knows alot more about Fuel Up To Play 60 program, and they are happy it is in our community. I have also noticed more kids have joined Fuel Up To Play 60, ever since I made the booth. I just LOVE and I mean LOVE to see kids, adults, everyone getting healthy and active! 🙂
