State Ambassador Tyler sat down with his Program Advisor Christina to learn more about why she decided to get involved with FUTP 60!

TYLER: You’re a science teacher – what made you interested in supporting a health & wellness program?

CHRISTINA: The science of the benefits of health and wellness are what made me interested in supporting this initiative. I know how much better I feel when I eat correctly and exercise. I also see that healthy students tend to be better learners. The environment students are exposed to at school should provide and support those things.

TYLER: Do you talk to other teachers about Fuel Up to Play 60? What do you say to them?

CHRISTINA: I most certainly talk about FUTP 60. I even recently discussed it at our District Wellness Committee Meeting. This was the only way that we will be able to get our program initiated. Without the support of this organization, our district outreach would not be possible.

TYLER: How does FUTP 60 support you in the classroom?

CHRISTINA: My students are able to provide Health and Wellness Days for all other schools in the district, not just the high school they attend. We also use our funding and support to help other schools with Walk to School Days and nutrition curriculum. FUTP 60 has jump started our entire districtwide Wellness Initiatives. We owe all of our success to FUTP 60.
