Respect, Gratitude, and a Little Bit of Wisdom

These past two years, Fuel Up to Play 60 has genuinely changed my life. I have also gained a newfound respect for my father and other dairy farmers. I want to share with the new and upcoming Ambassadors what I have learned and why dairy farmers are so important to Fuel Up to Play 60.

As a Fuel Up to Play 60 State Ambassador, I know how supportive both the NFL and the National Dairy Council are with Fuel Up to Play 60, but as the daughter of a dairy farmer, I know how much effort and how hard dairy farmers work each and every day. They work every day, they don’t get holidays, they wake up early and finish work late. I witness each and every day how hard my father and other dairy farmers work. I want dairy farmers to know how much they are a part of the foundation of Fuel Up to Play 60. Through the National Dairy Council, dairy farmers donate funds to help students achieve a healthier lifestyle. I want other students to be made aware of all the things dairy farmers do. I know that dairy farmers are not thanked enough for all of the time and effort they sacrifice every day. I truly respect my dad, dairy farmers, and the National Dairy Council.

Through Fuel Up to Play 60, I have attended a Packers game, the Wisconsin Fuel Up to Play 60 MVP Summit, and traveled to Washington, D.C. twice! Not only have I gained the opportunity to travel and experience new things through Fuel Up to Play 60, I have also gained new knowledge about healthy eating and physical activity. I have learned that both healthy eating and physical activity come hand in hand, and that throughout the country, schools and students are making changes. On my second trip to Washington, D.C., I learned that there is a large support staff, which cares about the well-being of the next generation, that work hard each and every day to try to make it easier for students to begin making healthy changes. I have met many amazing people, traveled, and learned so much about Fuel Up to Play 60, and I will be forever thankful towards the program.

To next year’s Student Ambassadors: Local, State, and National: I want to personally congratulate you on all that you will accomplish through Fuel Up to Play 60. I can honestly say that this program has changed my life and will make a huge impact in yours. Even if you’re not an Ambassador, don’t be afraid to share your voice! Fuel Up to Play 60 is always looking for new ideas and ways to improve the program. All ideas are welcome. Do not be afraid to put yourself out there! Next, keep making changes in your school and take the next step and share your changes with other schools, your state, and nation!

I will be forever thankful for Fuel Up to Play 60 and all that it does for me and other students across the nation, and I will also have a new and deep respect for my dad and all dairy farmers.
