Hey everybody, it’s Noah, Vermont State Ambassador! I was recently picked from three other Ambassadors to go to Virginia for a Youth-Nex Conference on health and wellness with my Program Advisor, Mrs. Howrigan. At the conference, I was asked to talk about what I’ve helped my team do at our school to increase healthy eating and activity levels. I presented to about 150 people, including the Dean of the University of Virginia! I also met people from different states. One man I talked to after my presentation said that he had just started a plan for his school’s healthy eating and activities, but he thought he did it all wrong after hearing what we are doing at my school!
It was nerve-racking and exciting to get up and tell all of the adults (there were no other students there) about what we are doing at my school, but I did it! In my presentation, I talked about taste tests and activities like Active April Day, Fuel Up Fun Run, and Eating Through the Colors! I didn’t just present these ideas; I was also on a panel where I was asked questions. My favorite question was “How do the girls get involved with the football/NFL part of it?” and I answered “Some of the girls do play football.” Everybody liked that answer! The whole conference was really fun, and I am really thankful I had this amazing opportunity!
