It’s finally summer! It’s that time of year when we, as kids, get to relax and enjoy our free time off of school. Why not spend that free time having fun in the sun with friends, family, or simply by yourself? Summer is the perfect time to put on your sneakers, go for a run, soak up the sun, and do all of the things you couldn’t do during the winter. It’s your summer, and there’s no better way to start off your day than by exercising.
Every day in the morning I go for a run with my cross country team. These exercises help me wake up, get in a good mood, and get ready to take on the day. I also get to spend time with my teammates and friends and I truly have fun socializing while staying in shape with them. I’m not going to lie, sometimes I don’t want to get out of bed, but I think about what the payoff is going to be and I am motivated to get up and play. After I am done with my workouts, I feel incredibly accomplished and my body feels great, too! There is no greater feeling than this one.
That being said, I encourage you to follow my lead and take control of your body. Join a summer group that you can exercise with to keep you on track and motivated (it is way easier to exercise when you have someone to exercise with)! Find a friend and make a list of summer sports you want to try together. Set personal fitness goals for yourself this summer. Whether you’re playing baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, football, tennis, swimming, volleyball, ice skating, doing gymnastics, lifting weights, or running, you’re staying fit and keeping your mind and body healthy. Get up, get out, and get going! It’s your life and it’s your body, so Fuel it Up, and go get your 60 minutes of play!
