Noa S. Huddle Photo 1A little more than a week ago, I traveled to The Sony Open tennis tournament in Miami, Florida to sit on an SAP round table discussion with two other Fuel Up to Play 60 Ambassadors. SAP is an international technology software company that has locations in over 130 countries and is the world leader in enterprise software and software related services. SAP is also a partner of Fuel Up to Play 60!

With SAP executives, we talked about how technology helps us to get people moving. For example, I spoke about how at my school we have an Xbox Kinect that helps all students stay active through the long Maine winters.

Events like these are very important as Fuel Up to Play 60 Ambassadors. They give us a chance to represent all Student Ambassadors and spread the word of Fuel Up to Play 60 on a much larger scale. As an Ambassador, you want to represent the millions of kids in the program, but you also want to be recognized as a strong individual. It’s important that your ideas are heard, and like Jenni Lewis, a SAP panelist said, “people will listen if you are passionate about what you are saying and if speak from the heart”. Communicating your passions helps get others excited about your cause, but you have to make sure you are communicating clearly. Being a good public speaker is very important if you want to be able to advance through the Ambassador Levels, but it is also a good skill to have throughout your life.

To be a great Ambassador, you want to do all these things, communicate your ideas clearly and take every opportunity you are given and run with it. Two years ago, I would have never thought that I would be where I am today. Make sure you take every small opportunity given to you, whether it be through Fuel Up to Play 60 or some other endeavor, because in the long run, it will pay off.

Going to the venue and seeing a tennis match as well as meeting so many cool people was a great opportunity as well as inspiring. There is not a better feeling than being able to represent a cause you believe in!
