Turner Middle School Fuels Up to Play 60 Every Day!

Here at Turner Middle School we Fuel Up to Play 60 every day! We are some of the many schools that offer many ways to play every day! We do so many things at our school that it’s hard to keep track of! One of the bigger activities we do here at Turner Middle School is the Monster Dash that we do every year during Halloween. The Monster Dash is a run that the whole school does, where we all run/walk around the track and field. At the Monster Dash, a chef taught healthy eating and fitness jeopardy, and we had a bouncy castle kind of active thing and a cup stacking demonstration.

Another activity we do at the school track is Mileage Club. Mileage Club is an activity we do on Mondays and Thursdays where we get punch cards, when we run a lap our card gets punched. We do Mileage Club at lunch but if you don’t want to run there is another alternative.

We all have IDs and at lunch we can check out equipment with them. We bought all new equipment last year from volleyballs to jump ropes to kick balls. Another fun activity we do at lunch is Just Dance 3 with the Kinect! It’s a fun thing to do during cold or rainy days and everybody gets involved! This is everybody’s favorite activity but a close second is the indoor basketball, volleyball, and badminton tournaments in the cafeteria during lunch! We do these tournaments during January and February because we realized that that’s the time where most students get in that “lazy” state.

Our school is so committed to Fuel Up To Play 60 that we actually have assemblies in its honor. Guest speakers come in to talk every year and in a lot of the assemblies they have volunteers to get active and play games to “fuel up”.

We also are going to have an NFL sports jersey day during football season! Also on the same day we are going to have all three grades sign up to take the Fuel Up To Play 60 challenge!

We do so much to get active and Fuel Up To Play 60 every day here at Turner Middle School!
