As a 14-15 National Ambassador and AdVenture Capital grant winner, I was invited to speak on a student panel at the 2014 NY Jets “Be the Change” Event on April 10th. Along with touring the Jets Training Facility and meeting Muhammad Wilkerson (defensive end for the Jets), I was given the opportunity to share my success stories with future Fuel Up to Play 60 Ambassadors, and meet students who are working to make their schools healthier communities. As a speaker, I wanted to drive home the message of teaming up with your Program Advisor to accomplish your goals. My Program Advisor Mr. Overton has been a major support through all of the projects I’ve worked on within my school, and I always know who to go to when I have a question or need help. Having a teacher or Program Advisor watching over your work is important, because you’ll know that you’re on the right track towards being the change. Overall, I believe I was able to convey this message to the students I spoke to at the event, and I had a great time getting on the field with them for 60 minutes of physical activity. We danced, competed in relay races, and trained like a NY Jet! I had an amazing time being a part of the whole experience!
