I initially became involved with the Fuel Up to Play 60 program through school in Character Council. The Character Council Committee works with Fuel Up to Play 60 to get students to eat and drink healthier and be more active. This program allows me to earn Points in many ways like Tracking what I eat and drink, recording how long I exercise every day, taking Mini-Lessons, reporting Plays, doing the 100 Mile Club and getting the word out about the program. Our goal is to get everyone to exercise for at least one hour each day. We’ve done a few activities during advisory like “Paper Toss”. The purpose of the game is to get to know our classmates by running around and finding someone with a common interest. To help kids to eat healthier, we convinced the school principal to bring back the salad bar. I love salad! Sometimes after lunch, the teachers would have us walk around the parking lot to get physically fit.
When I found out that I won a trip to an away NFL game for the St. Louis Rams for being a Top Point Earner, I was ecstatic! I couldn’t believe that I would be traveling to San Diego, California for this trip. It was my very first football game. Although the St. Louis Rams didn’t win, I still had a fabulous time. I even met a Fuel Up to Play 60 staff member and a Local Dairy Council supporter. I still can’t believe that I was so lucky to win a trip to see my favorite football team play in San Diego! It was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. Even better was that my uncle and I got to go together!
