This summer I had the opportunity to go the Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador Summit in Chicago, Illinois. Before the Summit, I thought it would be a great adventure and was looking forward to learning leadership skills and healthy eating choices. I hoped to learn some new ways to be a leader and to the share these skills with my school. I hoped to make the program in my school better.

Jack and the Bean

When I got to Chicago, my Program Advisor took me to see the giant bean! It was really cool and we took a ton of pictures. Once I made it to the Summit, it was nice to learn how to be a stronger leader the right way with NFL players and other School, State and National Ambassadors. I got to learn about the ideas other Ambassadors were doing in their school. At my school, we have done the Healthy Breakfast, Healthy Lunch-BAR NONE, In-Class Physical Activity Breaks, and the 100 Mile Club Plays. It was cool to share my experiences with the other Ambassadors as well.

On the lighter side, I was also excited to participate in the many activities, like flag football with NFL players and a healthy breakfast cook-off! I enjoy being active and especially doing activities that are thrilling. The video of the 2014 Summit showed several challenging activities, and this year’s video from our first day was the same!

It was very fun to travel to the Midwest and see the Windy City, as they call it. It was nice to see a city as big as Chicago. I live in a small town, and it was the first time for me going to a major city with lots of people. I had a great time at this year’s Summit and met a lot of great people who are as involved in the program as I am. I think this will be one of the best summers I will ever have.
