Johnathan Milk Mustache Picture 2I wanted to help boost my school breakfast participation. I met with my Program Advisors and we came up with the idea to do a Milk Mustache Booth. I wanted to encourage more of my friends and the younger students to drink milk during breakfast at school. We passed out Milk Mustaches in three different flavors, Strawberry, Chocolate, and White. I wanted my peers to know it didn’t matter what flavor of milk they drink, as long as they incorporate some type of milk or dairy during breakfast. I met with some classes and we discussed some of the ways you can benefit from milk. Even if you chose a flavored milk, we talked about how it provides the same nine essential nutrients as white milk.

Johnathan Milk Mustache Picture 1Everyone seemed to enjoy dressing up with hats, boas, and milk mustaches! This was a great motivational event to help them become more aware of the benefits of milk as well as promoting our breakfast at school. The students and staff were talking about this for weeks and it seemed to have a positive effect with more students attending school breakfast. We even set up a Milk Mustache Booth during school conferences and the parents and their students had a wonderful time with it. It was also a chance we had to encourage the parents to make sure their children got to school on time to eat breakfast.

I would like to Thank Nancy Zwick and the American Dairy Association Mideast for providing us with the milk mustaches!
