Avery Huddle Photo 1Giving kids in my school district a little extra “incentive” to get up and get active, and of course log their activity on the Fuel Up to Play 60 website was truly a privilege and experience I will never forget! This past week, my local middle school welcomed five members of our NFL team, The Cleveland Browns, to explain to kids how important proper nutrition and sixty minutes of physical activity a day is. Not only were kids able to spend their morning chatting amongst the players while fueling their bodies with a nutritious school breakfast, but they also attended a “Kick Off” assembly for the For the Love of Play Campaign.

At this assembly, I had the job of speaking about my role as the Ohio State Ambassador, telling everyone about my trip to Dallas, Texas this summer for the Student Ambassador Summit, and introducing the Cleveland Browns players that were present at the school for a Q & A session. Speaking in front of a sea of orange and brown in spirit of the Browns was something unforgettable. Before the assembly, I too ate a healthy meal along with our special guests, and many middle school students. Seeing all the young faces in pure amazement and awe was absolutely indescribable, while I was still in shock the entire event was playing out without a hiccup!  While the entire school was transitioning from classroom mode to “pep assembly” mode in the gymnasium, I was able to film a short video with the players that were present, and some of my own peers about the importance of healthy eating!

Avery Huddle Photo 2It is my hope that not only did this experience make every single one of those kids go home and sign up on FuelUpToPlay60.com, but also that they took away enough from the experience to empower them to go out into the community and make healthy changes no matter what age they may be.

A special thanks to everyone who made this remarkable event possible, and it was an honor to be a part of such a thing. I can only hope there are more great things such as this event in store for me and so many other Ambassadors nationwide. To all Ambassadors and schools kicking off Fuel Up to Play 60 this school year, I hope it comes with GREAT success.

Well wishes until our paths cross again,

Avery
