Did you know that only 1 in 3 kids like us are physically active each day? To spread the word about the lack of physical activity in schools—and across the country—the Alliance for a Healthier Generation is launching #Commit2Ten, a campaign challenging the nation to add 10 more minutes of physical activity a day. We want to help change those numbers so 3 out of 3 kids ARE physically active every day.

To make it really easy for you, we have created a guide of how to #Commit2Ten TODAY… either by yourself, with your friends or anyone else you can grab!

WHO?

·       Students across the nation
·       Teachers and teacher support
·       Community supporters, like a local dairy farmer or NFL player

WHAT?

·       Add an extra 10 minutes of exercise a day in addition to your 60 minutes

WHEN?

·       When you get out of bed
·       At the bus stop
·       Recess
·       In class activity break
·       When you get home from school
·       After your sports or other activity practices

WHERE?

·       Home
·       School
·       On the phone with your friend
·       Bus stop
·       Really, anywhere!

WHY?

·       Become even healthier yourself
·       Show others that health and wellness really matters
·       Prove that a little physical activity can make a big difference

HOW?

·       NFL players use these techniques to challenge themselves. You could try them too
·       Challenge your friends to a 40-yard dash.
·       Try vertical jumps: stand with your feet planted and see how high you can jump.
·       How about a broad jump? See how far you can jump by planting your feet and jump forward.
·       Try a 3 cone drill by setting up some cones and run around them in an L shape: forward and back and across.
·       Shuttle run: pick some lines on the ground and run back and forth

OR…

·       How about dancing?
·       Jumping jacks?
·       Stretching?
·       The Karaoke running drill?
·       Tossing a football with a friend?

These are just a few ways you can get in your extra 10 minutes of exercise per day. Now, READY! SET! GO! Show us your extra 10 on social media using the hashtag #Commit2Ten and tag @FUTP60!
