July 11th, 2013 – What a day! We are all headed off to sleep as I write this! We are all exhausted but well worth it! After a 14 hour day starting at 7AM walking to the Panthers’ stadium (which even the walk included a dance party on the way!), we eventually got to the stadium. From that point on it just got more and more exciting! We started off the day with a healthy breakfast so that our bodies were “fueled up” for the exciting day ahead of us!

After breakfast the Youth Council and Alumni Ambassadors headed down to the Panthers’ practice field, where the first ever Fuel Up to Play 60/SUDIA Local Ambassador Training Camp was to happen! After setting up all the stations and even dancing some more, it started pouring rain! It didn’t affect us! We kept on dancing while waiting for the local ambassadors to arrive! Right before the training camp started though, Mr. Rusty, our director for the summit, came running to field to let us know a big storm was coming so we had to move inside!

So there’s a change up in the plans right? What are we gonna do?! Our stations are meant for the field! We can’t do them in the tunnels of the Panthers’ stadium! But wait, this is the Student Ambassador Summit! Being an Ambassador you crave for times like these where you get to showcase how you’re able to improvise in the heat of the moment! We were a little flustered at first running around looking for equipment and brainstorming some new ideas to do in the tunnel of the Panthers’ stadium, but in about 15 minutes, we were set. The Youth Council and Alumni Ambassadors grabbed their teams, and took them down to the tunnels to start the fun! We set up really quickly and got on our way! Rotating between three stations, the students got to go through a football relay race, ice breaker activity, and obstacle course! And to make it even better, students were joined by NFL Great, Ben Hartsock, who played with us all and joined in on the stations!

After finishing up the local summit, we headed up to the “Panthers Den” for a great healthy lunch to fuel our bodies once again!

After that, the State and National Ambassadors sat down to really think. Think about a lot of different things. The biggest one was what are your goals and what do you want to accomplish with Fuel Up to Play 60 this school year? I could literally see my teams heads dialing in on this question. It was the only time here that the summit was completely quiet! You could tell everybody was focused and how serious they take this program. The dedication they showed towards writing their goals explains exactly why they were chosen to attend the summit to represent their state or country! I got to see a lot of them and boy oh boy, we’ve got a great group of Ambassadors this year! They’re gonna do big things! A Youth Council Ambassador, Tyler, likes to say, “We’ve got a bunch of doers here!” And that can’t be any more true! I’m glad to meet this group of kids and get to help and guide them on their first summit! It’s such an honor!

After working our brains really hard! Everyone wants to have a little fun right? So what better way to finish off the day than with an Ambassador team dance competition?! Well that’s exactly what we did! Lots of great moves were shown today to lots of different songs! Of course my team was the best though, right? 🙂 We danced to Gangnam style and had a blast performing it.

So now let’s summarize this day up quickly! Fuel Up to Play 60 is all about getting active and eating healthy! Every kid needs AT LEAST 60 minutes of play a day! But after fueling our bodies correctly and having lots of energy, we played for 14 hours! We Fueled Up to Play 1440! What a day! That shows you right there the amazing group of Ambassadors we’ve got here at the summit, and I can’t be more proud to be a part of this amazing program. Thank you for reading and hopefully I’ll get to meet you next year at the summit! But for now,

Yours In Health,
Tiger G.
