Tyler S. Huddle Photo (Marlow Duffy)_10022014During For the Love of Play, I along with my Program Advisor and a great team of students organized a kickoff event for the 100 Mile Club to get our whole school involved by being active and eating healthy. With help from New England Patriot Safety Devin McCourty, Pat Patriot, the New England Dairy Council, a representative from the USDA, and Marlow Duffy (a local dairy farmer), we were able to gather the entire middle school to promote the program. I, along with Devin and Marlow, spoke about the importance of being active and eating healthy.

Devin, Pat Patriot, and I led the entire school in a lap around our field to get students and teachers pumped up for the start of our 100 Mile Club. After our inaugural lap around the field, the entire school had the opportunity to try our healthy snack and some milk. As local reporters showed up to our event and inquired about the program, I responded by saying, “look at 750 kids down on the field playing. I wish this could happen every day where the whole school could bond together while being active.”

TylerHuddlePostThis was a very successful event, with the help of Devin and others; we were able to increase the enrollment of students to over 50% in this program. As State Ambassador, I am really excited about the success of our first major event and I cannot wait to lead and part take in more programs and events throughout the year. I challenge all of you reading this to get more of your school and community involved with the program and show your love of play.
