Fuel Up to Play 60 and my Physical Education Teacher have both inspired me to become more active and eat healthier meals and snacks. I participate in fun activities during the school day, after school and at home.

I am a Student Leader for Fuel Up to Play 60, and my leadership capabilities are developing more as I assist with Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Plays for our school. I am active with a variety of fun activities with my friends for 60 minutes or more every day. At school we have Physical Activity breaks during the school day, and I attend Physical Education class three days each week for 45 minutes and I am a member of our after-school running club. We attend 5k race events on Saturday mornings. I am eating more fruits and vegetables and I encourage my friends also to select fruits and vegetables at breakfast and lunch at school. Our school receives additional fruits and vegetables from the USDA’s school program each week.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 Tracker assists me in remembering to eat healthy and stay active. Our school has achieved several successes with first achieving the Fuel Up to Play 60 Touchdown School status. We are also winners of the NFL Dallas Cowboys Play 60 Challenge and we achieved the USDA Healthier US Schools Challenge Gold level Award. Most recently, we have achieved the 2012 Bronze Recognition Award from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. These programs play a critical role in educating our students on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle by combining healthy eating guidelines with the benefits of continuous physical activity.
