Hi, I’m Taylor M., Arizona’s Fuel up to Play 60 State Ambassador. On July 13th I got back from the 2013 Ambassador Summit in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was beyond fun and very informational! We learned about the many benefits of healthy eating and physical activity. The Summit was a major confidence booster for me personally. If I could describe the Summit in one word it would be phenomenal! I made so many new friends and memories that will last a life time!

As Arizona’s State Ambassador I must be a strong leader. I’m enthusiastic to speak up, motivate and encourage my peers to be the best person they can be, and to achieve goals and tasks I assign myself. This school year I plan to take on the responsibility of reshaping my school, in order to make it healthier!

My Program Advisor, Mrs. Greiner, and I are building a Fuel Up to Play 60 team in my school and other schools in my district! The S.W.A.T. (School Wellness Action Team) will be a club on campus that focuses on making it cool to live a healthy lifestyle. The club is still under way but as it stands, it will consist of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. We will meet mostly during lunch hours and decide together which of the Fuel Up to Play 60 Plays we will accomplish this year. I plan to accomplish a minimum of two Plays this school year and incorporate them in our daily activities, but I want the club to work together to choose which ones, and how we will execute them.

After our club is up and running, I will create a video to show the other Fuel Up to Play 60 schools in our district during their morning announcements that will promote Fuel Up to Play 60 and encourage students to earn the position of “School Ambassador.” The students chosen to be “School Ambassadors” will make up our district team. I will keep in touch with each of them weekly by e-mail and/or by phone to mentor them through building their own clubs on campus. Mrs. Greiner will also be a resource for their advisors.

Be sure to look for updates on the blog as we progress in our endeavors. I hope our efforts will help my peers understand how important it is to eat foods that fuel their body and engage in activities that will help them grow to their full potential.

I am eagerly waiting for the last day of school to arrive, when I will be able to look back and see the change I helped make in my school!
