It’s that time of year, who doesn’t love all those holiday treats? I know I do!! As a competitive dancer, I have to keep in shape with competition season just around the corner! It’s okay to have the treats in moderation as long as you make sure to get your 60 minutes of play every day. With all the holiday concerts, performances, and parties, it’s really easy to eat too many sugary treats. While visiting with friends and sampling the homemade goodies, sometimes we don’t stop to think just how unhealthy too many of those desserts can be for us!

A good plan is to have a balanced meal or fill up on healthy snacks like fresh veggies before the treats are served. It is possible to enjoy one delicious dessert without having seconds or thirds! If you do eat too many treats, get back on track the next day with a balanced plate at each meal including plenty of fruits and vegetables. Whether you enjoy walking, playing sports, or dancing like me, continue to make it part of your daily life.

My 30 day goal is to make good choices when I snack and to choose carefully when I see the trays of cookies! Hopefully, with a plan in place, I will still be in good shape and ready to dance when the holidays are over! How about you? Do you have a plan in place?

Happy Holidays to all my Fuel Up to Play 60 friends – I hope you all have a great and HEALTHY New Year!

Dance is a great way to get your 60 minutes of exercise every day, and it’s really fun!! I love lyrical, musical theater, and tap, but I enjoy all types of dance. That’s cool that you do acro – gymnastics is really fun too!
