If you’re like me and love food, it’s hard to always eat right. I’ve had to struggle with myself to switch the ‘oh so delicious’ cookie for let’s say an apple. But not all hope is lost because I’ve learned some tips to make eating healthier more of a want to rather than a need to. Don’t be afraid to try new things. If you try new things, you might actually like them. And it could be healthy for you, too! Don’t fill up on snacks either. I know my parents tell me all the time not to eat them out of house while they’re away, but don’t let your parents warnings go in one ear and out the other. Try to find a healthy snack you actually like to eat because filling up on a big bag of chips isn’t such a good idea before dinner. Just think of how proud your parents will be when you’ll be able to eat all your dinner! That leads me into my next tip. Be careful with your portions. Don’t have eyes bigger than your stomach and eat until you feel like you’re going to explode. Eat only until you feel full enough that you won’t be hungry later. But be sure to make some room for dessert, a healthy dessert of course! Instead of having a brownie or a piece of cake, try a bowl of fresh fruit or a smoothie. It’s delicious and nutritious!

Hello Emily! I agree with you. I think it’s easy when you start surrounding yourself with healthy foods and you hang out with friends that actually like to be active. I have been hanging out with a lot of my football friends at school and we play two hand touch. Now, everyone sees how fun it is and we even got the teacher and our school’s deputy from our MAGIC program joining us. It’s contagious. I also ask for healthy foods and I ask my mom not to buy anything unhealthy, so my choices are pretty simple- healthy or healthier! I think make it contagious to be healthy!

You know I agree that healthy kids do healthy things. If you go to any successful school, you will hear that healthy behaviors are a main reason to huge success! You want to be that great student, then make those great healthy choices. My brother has brought awareness in our home through the FUTP60 program and now I think and feel healthier.

I totally agree with you too! I like to go grocery shopping with my mom so I can help pick out healthier alternatives for the foods I already like. And what’s great is that you can barely tell the difference!
