Before entering 9th grade, I exercised once in a while through sports.  I also ate moderately healthy—or so I thought. Upon entering 9th grade, my whole perspective of being healthy was completely modified. My H.O.P.E. physical education teacher uncovered my eyes to what it truly means to be fit and eat a nutritious diet. I was educated on correct food servings as well as how much aerobic exercise I need to accomplish per day.

All of this new information helped me transform my lifestyle. Now, I get daily exercise for 1-2 hours by playing basketball, running, or lifting weights. Also, I ensure I eat some protein and dairy for breakfast, vegetables and fruits for lunch, and a healthy dose of all my food groups combined. The most amazing part of this story is not only that learning about health changed my life, but it also motivated me to positively influence others’ lives! My nutritional food choices for lunch like salads or fruits have influenced my peers to bring and eat healthier foods instead of eating chicken wings or fries. Furthermore, I was able to motivate my parents to exercise more by jogging or using cardiovascular machines like a stair master. As you can see, health awareness can influence many lives. Even better, since now that I am a Student Ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60, I can change tons of more lives by spreading my knowledge and providing activities that are fun for everyone!
