Students_7On Saturday, May 10th, we were invited to attend rounds 3 and 4 of the NFL Draft along with the State Ambassadors from New York. Upon arrival of Radio City Music Hall in NYC, we had a little bit trouble entering the theater, but everyone had a blast taking pictures, getting to know one another, and relaxing in line. Once inside, we were given VIP seating, and got a close view of the Draft experience. After spending about half an hour in the audience, we were hustled backstage to interview Chris Ivory, running back for the New York Jets. Below are a few of the questions we got answered during the lightning round.

What is your favorite breakfast to fuel up for a busy day?

Chris answered saying that he loves Frosted Flakes (of course), along with fruit, eggs, and bacon.

Can you cook? Do you have any favorite recipes?

Chris told us that unless eggs count, he’s not the best cook. However, he does like adding green onions to them for flavor.

What would you tell a twelve year old to do to prepare for this day?

At first, Jake stumped Chris with this question, but he later answered with having self-confidence and being motivated in order to get ready for Draft day.

The fun didn’t stop there though! Following the interview, we got the opportunity to visit the green room where players sit before they are called upon being drafted. We were then hustled on stage, that’s right, the stage of the one and only Radio City Music Hall, for a photo opportunity and the chance to take in the massive size of the crowd. After this, we were set free, and the two of us stuck around with Nadya (another State Ambassador from our school) at the Draft for a while. We later went shopping in Times Square to wrap up the day, and got plenty of exercise walking throughout the city. Going to the NFL Draft was an extremely memorable experience, and the three of us can account for an amazing day well spent!
