play62What happens when you are named NFL PLAY 60 Super Kid? The answer is you’re given access to once in a lifetime experiences! Every day was filled with exciting activities and every day I was able to meet legendary NFL greats, both past and present. My VIP treatment began on Tuesday morning as I visited the set of ESPN’s Mike & Mike show and was personally introduced to Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg by Mrs. Golic herself! One of the day’s guests was legendary basketball player Charles Barkley and I was able to talk to him for a bit. If that’s not exciting enough, I was also able to meet ESPN radio personality Colin Cowherd and former coach Mike Ditka who was looking for the Sports Center set. Walking off the set, Mike and Mike introduced me to former NFL player and coach turned ESPN analyst, Herm Edwards.

Following my amazing morning, I had an amazing afternoon as I was able to attend the NFL Media Day, which is a press conference of both teams that had earned their spots on Super Bowl Sunday. Media Day was chaotic! There were crowds of fans in the bleachers chanting their favorite teams names and media from around the world roaming the floor to see who they might catch a glimpse of. As I walked in I was interviewed by NFL AM host LaVar Arrington and I showed up on the jumbo screen in the arena. As I made my way through the crowd, I see one of favorite players, Brett Keisel. He asked me to interview for Head and Shoulders. As the teams made their way into the arena, I was able to ask each player and coach questions. I even received a compliment about my hair from Tom Brady himself.

On Wednesday, I was able to attend the NFL PLAY 60 Kids Day and play alongside Arizona Cardinal’s Justin Bethel. Over a thousand kids from local schools attended the event to participate in different ways to PLAY 60.

The next day began by walking into Super Bowl XLIX pregame and halftime entertainment press conference with Katy Perry and Idina Menzel. I was able to sit next to media from around the world and I was even selected to ask Katy Perry how is the preparation for her halftime show different from her regular performances. The night ended by attending the private screening of “Together We Make Football.” I met the winners of the contest and took photos with legendary players: Deion Sanders, Brian Dawkins, Marcus Allen and Coach Tony Dungy.

On Friday morning I was prepared to walk into the press conference with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. I asked him how he plays 60 and asked to take a selfie with him. Friday ended with rehearsal for the big day alongside singers, John Legend and Idina Menzel.

On the eve of Super Bowl XLIX, I was invited to attend the NFL 4th Annual Honors Award hosted by Seth Meyers. NFL legends and entertainers were in attendance. I met actress Mariska Hargitay from Law and Order who was really nice, took a picture with Hall of Famer and former NFL wide receiver Chris Carter, and chatted with NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith. Players such as Aaron Rogers and Odell Beckham Jr. said hello to me. I even spoke to the Walter Payton Man of The Year Award winner, Thomas Davis.

The big day finalized my week in Arizona when I had the privilege to deliver the game ball to the referee at the start of Super Bowl XLIX game and my day ended with being on the field for the trophy presentation amongst all the media and players celebrating the New England Patriots win in Super Bowl XLIX!
