I am an athlete like most of you reading this, so I think most of you can tell by now that what us as athletes do is quite difficult. You have to work to be good. I am here to tell my story and encourage you to never give up. One of my favorite sports of all time is wakeboarding. My step-brothers have done this their whole life, and I was tired of knee-boarding and tubing so I decided I was ready for something new. It took about eight tries for me to even get up on the board! For many of you who do not know what wakeboarding is, it is snowboarding, but in the water. You get pulled up by a boat and stay up. It is really hard, but once I got up it was easy from then on. The trick is to never give up. I know that I was getting everyone frustrated because I was wasting their boating time, but I think everyone can agree it was well worth it. If I gave up, I would have never tried again. The funny thing is my step-dad was videotaping for ten minutes when I got up and I wasn’t sure why he was not facing the camera at me, but I found out afterwards that I was not the one he was videotaping! There was a snake in the water a foot away from me but no one told me because they knew I would have gotten out of the water and would never go back in for the rest of the day. Basically, if you give up you will not go anywhere in the right direction. You have to go in one direction and that direction is up. Try new sports and everyone has a bad sport so never get discouraged. There is an opportunity waiting for you in the future somewhere!

I agree! Never give up. I began playing flag football about three years ago and there were other kids that were pretty fast. I didn’t give up and I still try everyday to overcome my fear of tackling the bigger guys. It’s pretty scary, but I still go for it.Never give up.

I play club soccer, cross country, and USA wrestling and if your down by a goal or behind in a race or down by some points in the last period, you should NEVER GIVE-UP! (p.s. that’s cool that you wake-board!)
