Hello, my name is Katie, a State Ambassador from Pennsylvania, and I attended the 2015 Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador Summit in Chicago this year. I can’t begin to say how much I learned at the Summit! I’ve learned not only how to become a good leader and how I can make a change in my school and community, but I’ve also learned you can do anything you put your mind to and why staying healthy and fit really matters. Fuel Up to Play 60 has taught me to make the healthy impact in the world that I want to see, actually happen and put my dreams into action.

Fuel Up to Play 60 has given me so many amazing and wonderful ideas to take back to my school. There are so many things I want to do! For example, my school has this big strip of land and instead of It just sitting there not being used, I will try to convince my school to put in a beautiful garden filled with nutritious fruits and vegetables. My Program Advisor and I are also getting a blender, and we are adding healthy and delicious smoothies to our school menu. There is an infinite number of things I want to do, such as install a quick and healthy Grab and Go Breakfast program in my school and implement an “In Class” Physical Activity Break Play, because sitting in school for hours a day is unhealthy and can potentially lead to heart disease and weight gain. I also want to add the Fuel Up Your Community Play because no kid should go to school hungry.

As soon as I came home from the Summit I stopped and I thought to myself, “I’ve made it so far from where I began.” I couldn’t stop then. I was inspired. Fuel Up to Play 60 inspired me to walk into school every day and make a change. Every day, I wake up inspired to make a difference. Fuel Up to Play 60 has inspired me in so many ways, whether it’s to get that one person to put down the cupcake and pick up an apple or to skip watching that movie and go for a run. I was inspired to get my school to eat healthier and to become more fit. They told me that the little things can make a huge impact so when I go to school every day I will make a change. They inspired me to tell the people sitting outside during recess to come and join the basketball game or go jump rope or even go for a run. Fuel Up to Play 60 has taught me so much, I’m am truly honored that I got to share my experience with you!

I like the garden idea but it would be cool to make a club. And the breakfest idea is cool but make one every day so they have choceis.
