Cainin W. Photo 2 We Are In!

At my school we got “in” before school even started! As the Arkansas State Ambassador, I appeared live on our local radio station during their “Close-Up” segment with the “Mouth of the South” Ashton Taylor to promote the idea that all students in our county should begin their day with a healthy breakfast (which includes a dairy product), and should get active for 60 minutes each day.

Next, at our school’s open house I worked with my Program Advisor Mrs. Bingham and the Fuel Up to Play 60 Team to show students what a healthy breakfast looks and tastes like. We created a healthy breakfast with milk, yogurt, fresh fruit, a multigrain bagel, and a granola bar and displayed it on a cafeteria tray. We gave away yogurt as students and parents came by to see our healthy breakfast. We hung Fuel Up to Play 60 banners and had 104 students take the pledge to be part of Fuel Up to Play 60 and begin their day with a healthy breakfast.

On the first day of school my Program Advisor, the Fuel Up to Play 60 Team, football players, and cheerleaders greeted students as they came to school and encouraged them to eat a healthy breakfast in the cafeteria!

Finally, during the September school board meeting I had the opportunity to tell our superintendent, school board, teachers, and community members about the Fuel Up To Play 60 program, the Summit, and my goals as the Arkansas State Ambassador for Fuel Up To Play 60 this year.
