I heard about Fuel Up to Play 60 from my economics teacher. She told us about the program and the goal it is trying to achieve. Fuel Up to Play 60 has inspired me to try and improve my fitness and inspire others to eat healthy and get active!

In our lunch room, they always used to give us the best desserts. We had cookies, cake, Jell-O or other delicious treats every single day. This year, things changed. We now only get dessert once a week. Every other day, we have our choice of a variety of healthy fruits and vegetables. This has helped me watch what I eat at school and has made me more aware of what I am putting into my body. I have noticed more people eating the good food in the lunch room instead of throwing it away because they were full of desserts. This one small act has had an impact on our school and on myself.

The goal of Fuel Up to Play 60 is to get people active. I am a member of the varsity girls basketball team, so I think of myself as a pretty active person. However, I know there are areas I can improve in. Because of Fuel Up to Play 60, I have been pushing myself to work harder and be healthier.

Our school probably has not met its goal yet, but we are close! Mrs. Erhardt is the head of the operation here and she has put her blood, sweat, and tears into this program trying to get more kids up and active! I strongly believe that with the support our school has been giving her and the program that we will reach our goal in no time.

It’s great that the cafeteria is offering dessert once a week. At my school, we have lots of fruit for dessert.
